20 lessons of 45 mins per week, Monday to Friday,

| |
| Facilities: |
The school is located in Canongate, part
of the Royal Mile - the most historic street in Scotland.
There are excellent shops, restaurants, cafés,
banks and tourist attractions nearby. Students use modern
equipment as well as more traditional learning materials
such as textbooks. At the end of each course, students
receive a Course Certificate, study suggestions and a
full report on their progress. |

Typical
Activities: |
The school timetable shows how work and play merge together,
and proves that a lot of English can be learned not just
in class but also on the sports field, in souvenir shops
or visiting a castle. Each afternoon, students can choose
either a sporting activity or a cultural visit, and in
the evenings there are lively entertainments, from supervised
discos to Scottish evenings and treasure hunts.
There are evening activities every night for students
on residential courses. Students staying with host families
join the residential groups for activities on some evenings
during the week. All students go on a full-day excursion
on Saturdays and residential students also enjoy a half-day
outing on Sundays. Students have one free afternoon each
week and are fully supervised at all other times. |

| Accommodation: |
i) Host Families: Homestays,
who offer traditional Scottish hospitality, are a popular
choice. Families are carefully chosen and many have
been welcoming students for years. A full-time Accommodation
and Welfare Officer inspects the homes regularly.
Students share a room with another young person of a
different mother tongue, unless two from the same group
have particularly asked to be together. Homestays provide
breakfast and an evening meal during the week, with
lunch at the weekend. A hot lunch is provided in the
school on weekdays. On the first day of school a member
of the family takes the student to school, and makes
sure that travel arrangements are clear.
ii) Student Residence: This
is located at the University of Edinburgh. Single study
bedrooms all have wash basins, and there are spacious
common rooms, showers, baths and toilets as well as
laundry facilities. Students are supervised by resident
staff. They take breakfast and evening meals in residence
during the week (lunch is provided at school), with
full board at weekends. Residential students are taken
to school each morning by private coach. |
| |
| Meals: |
Full board, with a packed lunch Mon-Fri. |
| |
| Transfers: |
All students are met at Edinburgh airport
and escorted to their accommodation. |
